The City of Ogdensburg will hold a public auction on Thursday, March 2nd at 2:00 PM of surplus city-owned parcels (please click here for detailed descriptions of all parcels). All of parcels will be presented to the City Council for approval on March 13, 2023. This effort is part of the City’s continued goal to get properties back into productive use to improve neighborhoods across the community.
The auction will be held in person at City Hall, 330 Ford Street in the Council Chambers. Those interested in attending are encouraged to pre-register with the Department of Planning and Development at 315.393.7150 in advance of the auction, although registration the day of the event will be permitted. There will be no virtual attendance. However, in keeping with past practice, for bidders that are unable to attend in person, vote by proxy bidder will be permitted.
What is a Proxy Bidder? A proxy bidder is a person appointed to represent you (the Buyer) in the bidding process when you can’t physically attend a property auction. As the property buyer, you will need complete the Proxy Bidder form to appoint a bidder on your behalf. These forms are available by request in the Planning Department or by contacting the Director of Planning, Andrea Smith at asmith@ogdensburg.org. All Proxy Bidder forms must be received by 4 PM on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 to the Department of Planning and Development, 330 Ford Street, Suite 6, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
All property sold by the City of Ogdensburg is, “as is” and “where is”, by quit claim deed. The City makes no warranty as to clear title or condition. All successful bidders will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit in the amount of 20% of the winning bid. Acceptable forms of payment include cash or check, no credit card payments will be accepted.
