Kids Kingdom and Greenbelt Park Closure
Ogdensburg, NY – Beginning Saturday, October 1st Kids Kingdom and the Greenbelt Park system, including the tennis and pickle ball courts will be closed until further notice. The closure is to facilitate construction associated with the city’s Dobisky Center, Municipal Marina & Morrisette Park Shoreline Resiliency Improvements. The Project includes: installation of steel sheet piling, cast-in-place concrete cap extension to existing steel sheet pile wall, rip rap shoreline protection, marina and dock improvements, new playground equipment, new tennis/pickleball courts, asphalt paving, concrete sidewalks, tree planting and landscaping, site utility modifications, site lighting and associated electrical work. TJ Fiacco has been selected to complete the construction, which is anticipated to be completed by September 2023. Repairs will be funded in part by the New York State Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative (REDI) along with funds allocated by the Ogdensburg City Council.
City staff will assist members of the public that are interested in obtaining personalized fencing posts from the original Kids Kingdom. Members of the public will be responsible for locating your personalized items and providing photo identification. Friday, September 16th between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, and Saturday, September 17th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, staff will be available at Kids Kingdom to deconstruct and remove personalized items upon request. Only authorized staff is permitted to remove portions of the playground; members of the public are prohibited from removing any portion of the playground or fencing.
