Mayor’s Message

Welcome to the City of Ogdensburg, one of the most beautiful and historic communities in New York State.

Originally founded as a French missionary settlement in the middle 1700s, today’s Ogdensburg enjoys a history that predates the Revolutionary War and includes the famous Battle of Ogdensburg during America’s War of 1812 period.

Nestled at the confluence of the Oswegatchie and St. Lawrence rivers, the incorporated city limits has a population of just under 11,000 people.  The community shares a unique bond with our Canadian neighbors to the north and is connected to Prescott, Ontario by the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge.  This physical link over the St. Lawrence River means Canada is only minutes away from Ogdensburg and puts the major Canadian cities of Ottawa and Montreal within a short one hour drive of the community.

The city is also fortunate to have the recently expanded Ogdensburg International Airport, with daily destinations that include points in Florida and the major transportation hubs of Chicago, Illinois and Washington, D.C.

As Mayor, and a small business owner, I can tell you first hand that the residents of Ogdensburg are welcoming and friendly and are always interested in meeting new people, whether they are coming to shop, do business, or put down roots in the community.

As a business owner myself, I have made it a priority to make Ogdensburg even more affordable by working to lower taxes and encourage new business growth both in and outside the city limits.

If you are considering visiting or seeking business opportunities here, I’d love to hear from you personally.

I am proud to say that there are few communities in New York State as unique and beautiful as Ogdensburg.  Our strength and our long history is the result of our combined values and the fact that members of our community care about each other.

If you should decide to visit our small city, know that you will be welcomed with kindness and open arms.  We encourage you to join us as we continue looking back at our history with pride and look forward to our future with hope.
