What is meant by the term “inventory and analysis”?
An inventory and analysis is a term commonly used in the planning profession to describe the process of understanding the local character of natural and cultural conditions within a given area or region; the “inventory” can be thought of as the gathering of facts describing a location. The “analysis” refers to the interpretation of the facts. With regard to the LWRP, the analysis is the interpretation of the facts pertaining to waterfront issues, opportunities and constraints, and specific resource protection needs within the coastal area.
