The Ogdensburg Fire Department announces the summer fire hydrant flushing program will begin on Monday July 11th, 2022 on Adams Ave portion of the city's hydrant system, and proceed to the northern end of the coverage area off of Proctor Ave. The flushing program will take place Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 11:30am and 1:00pm to 3:00pm until all hydrants are flushed. It is necessary for proper maintenance of our water distribution system, and this procedure provides an opportunity to test and evaluate the condition of the city's fire hydrants. In addition, this will also help remove sediment that has accumulated in the water mains.
Residents are urged to check that their water is running clear before starting laundry at this time. If the water is still discolored, please run cold only until clear.
Local businesses will be attempted to be notified in advance of hydrant flushing in their area.
