COVID-19 UPDATE
May 15, 2020
Today, New York State embarks on Phase I of re-opening! After seven weeks of PAUSE, today, May 15, 2020 New York will begin to re-open on a regional basis with the North Country among the first of the regions cleared. Re-opening refers to non-essential businesses and business activities. Essential businesses and business activities that are open will remain open.
Phase I includes construction, agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting, retail - (limited to curbside or in-store pickup or drop off), manufacturing, and wholesale trade. The Office of the Governor has released guidance for how Phase I businesses should approach re-opening. There are specific Guidelines for Employers and Employees for each of the allowable Phase I businesses that can be found at https://forward.ny.gov/industries-reopening-phase.
St. Lawrence County Public Health has also provided the following data and resource with useful links to information that will help businesses as they begin the re-opening process.
While today is a landmark, it remains critical that we continue to follow social distancing guidance, cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face covering when you have to go out in public, and wash your hands regularly (for 20 seconds). Continuing these practices will maintain our success in slowing the spread of COVID-19 and ensure that we can move on to Phase II as quickly as possible…Afterall, don’t we all need a haircut?
