COVID-19 UPDATE
April 16, 2020
Although the pandemic has changed many aspects of daily life, it has not changed the laws and the processes that govern the payment of local property taxes and other municipal obligations such as water and sewer bills. City staff have received several inquiries about how to pay these bills when City Hall is closed to the public.
There are two options right now, and we are working on a third option. Payments can be made online through Xpress-pay.com at any time of any day. Click here to find out how to make the payment. There is a service fee that is charged by Xpress-Pay, not by the City. The other option is to pay by mail, with the envelope addressed to City Comptroller’s Office, 330 Ford Street, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
The additional option we are working on is creating a drop box for any payments of any type, such as dog licenses and other fees paid to the City Clerk, at any time of year. It will be a slot through which envelopes can be inserted; the actual box will be on the interior of the building. We expect to have that ready soon, and will make sure it is publicized.
Here at City Hall we are sensitive to the difficulty the current times present for paying property tax bills. If you have any questions about this you can email City Comptroller Tim Johnson by clicking here or call 315-393-1860. If you get voicemail, please leave a message and your call will be returned.
