Requirements for a License

First Marriage for Both Parties

For parties 18 years of age:

  • Both parties must be present
  • Proper identification is required (see list of accepted documents in "General Information")

For parties 17 years of age:

  • Both parties must be present
  • Parental consent and a court order are needed
  • Both parents of minors must be present when the marriage license is purchased
  • Proper identification is required (see list of accepted documents in "General Information")

Second Marriage for Either Party

  • Both parties must be present
  • Proper identification is required (see list of accepted documents in "General Information")
  • Certified copy of each and every divorce decree with the date stamp of the County Clerk showing the filing date and the Judge's signature

General Information

  • Fee is $40
  • There is a 24-hour waiting period once the license has been issued
  • License is valid for 60 days
  • Proper identification includes: certified birth certificate and driver's license, non-driver's ID, or a valid passport
